Aldi has released its Christmas advert for 2023 with a Willy Wonka-themed twist, starring its beloved character Kevin the Carrot.
This will the be the eighth year that Kevin and his friends have starred in the German discounter’s festive campaign.
The ad, created by advertising agency McCann, opens with five lucky winners – including Kevin – waiting to enter William Conker’s gravy-filled wonderland.
Other visitors to the factory include Greedy Gluttonous Grape, Sulky Sour Rhubarb and Mischievous Kiwi who, one by one, fall at various hurdles until Kevin is the last one standing.

Upon passing the test, Kevin starts handing out gifts to the Plumty Dumptys before he is presented with the ‘cheese’ to the factory.
He then asks the wholesome question: “Can I share my good fortune with everyone?”
The advert closes with a charming message from the narrator: “Seasonal goodwill was truly in the air as Christmas is a time that’s sweeter when you share”
Aldi UK marketing director Jenna Townsend said: “Christmas is made magical by coming together and sharing the joy of celebration even in tough times- just like Kevin wants to with his Christmas wish.
“It wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens; we know our shoppers will love seeing him getting into the Christmas spirit as we welcome him back for his eighth year with us.”
Aldi is the latest supermarket to release its Christmas 2023 advert, following behind Lidl’s heartwarming festive campaign featuring a brace raccoon and Asda’s Christmas campaign featuring pop star Michael Bublé.

The William the Conker character is a direct rip off of a guy who makes becorns from nuts, seeds and grasses etc. and photographs them with animals and birds. Shame on Aldi!
