Aldi and Lidl have created a whole new front in the price wars between the UK’s biggest supermarkets, with both chains now offering an entire school uniform outfit for £3.75.
The competing campaigns from the two German rivals make their school uniforms the cheapest on the market.
Lidl’s £3.75 primary school essentials package — which consists of two polo shirts, a sweatshirt or jumper and trousers or pleated skirt — will go on sale next Thursday.
It comes after Lidl’s first-ever school uniform collection sold out in just a week last year thanks to prices providing a 56 per cent saving on the same items from Tesco, which cost £6.25.

In response to Lidl’s announcement today, Aldi have reduced their earlier offer of £4 for its Back to School uniform package made up of the same items to £3.75. However, it goes on sale online and in stores from today.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury‘s Tu school uniform range has over 200 options and offers items in multipacks: three polo shirts are £3.50, two trousers or skirts are £7 while two sweatshirts are £4.
Although state schools are only just beginning their six-week summer holidays in the coming weeks, supermarkets are increasingly offering deals sooner than later.
