House of Fraser’s XPO distribution centres re-open

House of Fraser’s distribution centres in Wellingborough and Milton Keynes have re-opened today after weeks of uncertainty over the future of the embattled retailer, according to a report by Drapers.

The department store took its website offline on August 15 after falling into a dispute with XPO Logistics, who own and operate House of Fraser’s Wellingborough and Milton Keynes warehouses.

Now, House of Fraser chief executive Alex Williams has said the centres will open this morning in order to take receipt of concession deliveries, collect from suppliers and process stock to the stores.

Williams added that all services will be resumed “as soon as possible”.

XPO is reportedly owed £30.4 million, while House of Fraser’s wider debts are believed to approach £1 billion.

It stopped accepting goods and processing deliveries for the retailer last week, meaning House of Fraser was forced to contact shoppers to warn customers that it had cancelled orders that had not been sent yet.

Earlier this week it was also revealed that 627 members of XPO staff at Wellingborough and Milton Keynes had been put on a 45 day consultation period from August 17.

I am utterly discusted and feel sick.

      • If you paid by credit card you can contact your bank under Sales of Goods Act 1979, anything over £100 you are able to claim all of the money back from your bank as they are equally liable and responsible for your £1200, don’t worry you will get it all back.
