Asda will increase the hourly pay for its colleagues by 10% and is offering a bonus payment for staff.

Store colleagues will have their pay increased from £11.00 per hour from April and £11.11 per hour from July.

The bonus amount, which is being offered to staff who have been working for over three months, will be revealed at the end of February and paid the following month.

The grocer has invested £141m to increase the hourly-pay for 115,000 colleagues who work across its 633 stores.

The new rates exceed National Living Wage and Real Living Wage rates and follow an 8% pay increase for hourly-paid retail roles during 2022.

Asda has also frozen the prices on 600 family favourite products to help customers manage rising living costs.

The initiative means prices will be locked on branded and own label products, more than half of which are fresh meat, dairy, fruit and vegetable products, from 21 February to 31 May.

Asda co-owner, Mohsin Issa said: “We appreciate the great job that our store colleagues do representing Asda while serving customers day in and day out. We know that rising living costs are affecting customers and colleagues alike and recognise we have a responsibility to support them during these challenging times.”

  1. Yeah they are increasing hourly rate to try match with other supermarkets but then massively reduced our Christmas bonus which we received last year. From near £300 to £60. Typical give with one hand take away with the other.

  2. They are taking away the yearly bonus that we have had for a long time. Absolutey disgusting and we only get 20% discount and should be put up to 20%. No doubt the Issa brothers will take the discount card off us. They are hopeless owners

  3. The bonus was not announced until last week which is only 25% totalling £90. We were promised £800. Such a scam. The owners and the company have been very dodgy about this.
