New Look has begun charging customers for postal returns of online orders as part of a new trial.

The fashion retailer will charge £1.99 to return items via post but customers can still return online orders to stores for free.

The decision comes after Boohoo and Zara also made the decision to charge a fee for customers returning items in an effort to reduce costs.

New Look said charging for returns can help “recover costs” online, rather than making money from the fees, Retail Week reported.

“People are returning because they just don’t like the feel or look of it, so actually we’re never going to get that returns rate down really low,” a source at New Look said.

“Therefore the offset is, by charging for return, we can keep our sales price lower and that is why we’ve introduced it.”

  1. Yeah.. Start robbing in dayligjt.

There will be a day soon we will see UK will like Srilanka.

  2. Sell better clothes that doesn’t fall apart after a 30 degree wash. Offer more than 1 rack of black plus size clothing in 1 out of your 15 real life shops. Offer real wide shoes instead of China’s idea of wide shoes. Then we wouldn’t send it back so often.
