Zavalis previously held the title of marketing director for Aldi from 2013 to 2019 and  worked as VP, brand and marketing communications director at Boots before returning to the supermarket in 2021.

Speaking of his time at Aldi, Zavalis said that the brand was “rising up in the consciousness of the public from a base of 3% share as the seventh biggest grocer in the UK and is now the fourth largest with a 10% market share.”

“We worked hard to dispel the quality perception issues and convinced UK shoppers that low prices didn’t result in low quality products.”
