PrettyLittleThing founder Umar Kamani has pledged to buy Topshop and “bring it back like the good old days” following reports that its owner Asos was weighing up a sale.
Kamani, who stepped down as the fast fashion retailer’s chief executive in April, flagged his interest in the brand on X – formerly Twitter – today.
It comes as reports emerged late last week that Asos was in talks with Ted Baker owner Authentic Brands Group about the possible sale of its Topshop brand.

The PrettyLittleThing founder wrote on X: “I would buy this and bring it back like the good old days.. rockin and rollin.”
The sale of Topshop to the fast fashion tycoon would add to his sprawling retail empire.
Kamani is also a member of the founding family of Boohoo Group, which owns several brands in its portfolio including Coast, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis and Nasty Gal.

Someone stop him wasting his money.
The name ‘Topshop’ is irrelevant now, so are the names Burton, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Etams. They are about as relevant to kids today as ‘Principles’ ‘Fosters’ ‘Hepworths’ ‘Chelsea Girl’ and ‘C&A’
A fashion retailer is only as good as its last 3 seasons. Why would anyone owning a much more relevant brand like PLT want to waste time and money with ‘Topshop’ it’s gone it’s dead and buried. There is no growth or brand reason to resurrect it. Who out there right now is praying for Topshop to open a store? No one. They moved on to other retailers who sell the same stuff.
