Evri rolls out its ‘biggest recruitment programme’ amid delivery boom

Evri is set to employ over 5,000 additional workers across the UK as the parcels delivery boom shows no signs of slowing.

The recruitment drive at the rapidly growing company will take the number of jobs created by Evri this year to more than 10,000, the Times reports.

The jobs on offer include couriers, customer service roles and workers for its hubs and depots.

The move reflects the growth and increased volumes that the business, previously named Hermes, has enjoyed in recent months, as well as a build-up to the busy Christmas period.

Evri’s parcels volumes have soared above pre-pandemic levels amid record demand this summer as it delivered over 2.5m parcels every day in June and July.

Chief executive Martijn de Lange told the Times: “Ahead of the busy festive period, we are about to embark on the biggest recruitment programme in our history.

“This follows another significant year of growth, supported by continued growth from online retailing, including marketplaces and pre-loved sites, as customers increasingly look to buy and sell second-hand products.”

Evri delivers 730m parcels each year, serving 12m customers a week using 24,000 self-employed couriers, five hubs, 27 depots and 550 delivery units.

It works with more than 80% of UK retailers and has benefited from the rise of marketplaces and pre-loved websites, including Vinted and Etsy.

  1. It does not disclose how many parcels do not get delivered, stolen, broken and used to play football in the hubs, and sold at auction because they cannot be bothered to deliver them. Probably more than they deliver?

    • Some parcels are paid for delivery to the driver at as little as 37p per parcel, top end you can get £1.20 for a parcel…… that all depends on what’s on your delivery route, so if you only have 20 parcels for the day it’s not even covered fuel, still wrong stealing parcels. It’s more of a part time job than a career at Evri

  2. Love my Evri driver John, he’s a top man……can’t understand the bad reputation….never had an issues……Tony the troller maybe not so much conjecture and a little bit first hand info be nice

  3. Agree with Ro, drivers are good, warehouse hubs are the problem. Yes I have had first hand experience with lost parcels showing on tracking as delivered, 3 weeks later they have been found in a warehouse somewhere, then delivered opened and broken Evri not bothered about paying for the damage.

  4. Worst company in world if you are not home they drop your parcel everywhere and get sotel
    So avoid this company they are not good at all
